Postnatal Pilates - Mum & Baby
These classes support the postural demands of life with a baby and improve muscle tone, strength, and mobility. In our friendly and relaxed classes, you will meet other mums and get personalized advice on a safe and effective way to return to your pre-pregnant physique. This class is suitable for Mums from 6 weeks after your baby is born (8-12 weeks post c section) until the baby is crawling.
Hannah Brown started Holistic Body Focus to combine her expertise in Pilates with her passion for other disciplines to create an approach which benefits both body and mind. “I have been teaching Pilates for over seven years and had a very thorough training with the Pilates Foundation. More recently, I have become a pre and postnatal specialist.” Hannah’s dance background influences the way she teaches, with creativity that fosters a sense of flow through the classes.
“My postnatal classes teach new mums how to re-connect with their bodies gently and effectively, whilst embracing all the ongoing changes that are happening. It’s also a great way to meet other mums and babies – there is a real sense of community in the classes as they are sharing the journey together.”
What to expect?
Hannah works a lot with the fundamentals of breathing: promoting healthy breath patterns, tapping into the healing of the tissues and the functioning of the abdominals and pelvic floor. “I have a lot of emphasis on release, stretch, and opening in the classes. For one thing, it feels amazing! But also it’s what we need to do before we can safely go into more strength work.
What to bring?
Wear clothes you are comfortable to move in.
Classes are held in the top floor studio. Buggies can be parked in the ground floor studio where the 'Stay and Play' session is.
