ABOUT THE CLASS
During Baby & Me, parents and caregivers are invited to join in with nursery rhymes to bond with and entertain babies, massage techniques to aid digestion and good sleep, and a spot of yoga to leave mums, dads and childminders feeling stretched out and strengthened.
Orishemma discovered the benefits of yoga and meditation over 20 years ago during her challenging early adult years. This instigated her journey on becoming a complementary health practitioner in multiple disciplines, including: homeopathy, nutrition and massage.
In 2002, whilst pregnant with her first child, Orishemma reluctantly participated in a pregnancy yoga class – this would be the catalyst that spurred her to train with the world-renowned Francoise Barbira Freedman, founder of Birthlight, in 2005. Since then, Orishemma has passionately continued her perinatal yoga training and expanded to children’s, teens and family yoga along with nurturing baby massage.
Now, as the mother of three children and a certified doula, she is in her final year of midwifery training at The University of West London with the vision of making perinatal yoga more widely accessible throughout the NHS.

- Many who attend the class will be first time parents, so this is a perfect opportunity for sharing experiences and knowledge, making new friends and realising that through the highs and lows and those sleepless nights, you are not alone!
- You will learn nurturing baby massage techniques to aid with digestive issues, constipation and colic; relaxed walking/holds to calm and settle your baby when they or yourself are feeling fractious; emotional awareness and positive use of voice when communicating with your baby and serene relaxation techniques.
What to expect?
Bond with your babiy, learn new massage techniques to aid digestion and good sleep. Practice yoga to feel stretched out and strengthened.
What to bring?
Feel free to nurse, change, bounce, feed and walk around as needed. The class is suitable for mothers from 6 weeks post birth (or until ‘signed off’ by GP) and to all pre-crawling babies. Yoga mats and props are provided but please bring a muslin or blanket for baby to lie on.
Wear clothes you can stretch in! And there’s plenty of place to park the buggy.
