While I am writing these first lines, I sit here with my large latte and a chocolate muffin. I am definitely not living the most healthy life at the moment. I am a single parent, working hard every day to be the best possible mama to my wonderful one year old daughter, who is going through huge developmental changes right now. But I am also a part-time dog mama to an enormous, hairy but lovely Alaskan Malamute, who gives us so much love but also leave tons of hair behind and wants to be walked  three times a day. And as if this would not be enough, I am running my own business. This experiment is not a 'you should do this and that to be fit, active, healthy, raise a child, take care of a dog and found your business' guide - But I do hope that this will give you an insight into my life with its ups and downs, big mama failures but also great moments of success!

Welcome to my world Mama :

I started MumShape because as a single parent with no close family nearby, it was enormously difficult to stay active and healthy during and after pregnancy. I don't know how many of the mums reading this planned their pregnancies, but I definitely did not. I had just moved to London after three very exciting and active years in San Francisco. I've spent my time running along the water, biking, and trying every fitness class offered in the city. Until I received a job offer from London, which prompted my decision to move across the pond for my career as an interior designer. I was excited for this new adventure and was ready to take on London and everything it had in store for me.

Little did I know...

Life happened with all it's unpredictable twists and turns and here I am, two years later with a child, a dog, and a house complete with a garden.

My pregnancy was very stressful. It was not just the long commute to and from work every day but also the high performance environment at work including deadlines and traveling combined with crazy hormones, getting to know the father of my child, and coming to terms with the fact that I was going to have a baby and had to get ready for this huge life-changing experience.

Of course life didn't slow down when Mila, lovingly referred to as little monster, was born. I learned to deal with many sleepless nights, sore nipples, back pain and Mila's first fever. That's when I started wondering: What about me? What about my emotional and physical well-being? How do others manage to wake up every morning motivated to be the best possible and most loving mama to their little ones?

New Born Mila with Lisa

I had always lived a pretty well-balanced life. I was active, took care of myself and in return, felt at ease and could handle difficult situations more easily. After becoming a mum and going through quite a lot of changes, I definitely needed a let-out for all these emotions. I needed to free my mind and become myself again. Out of my need for physical activities, community and support, I founded MumShape. It is exactly what I would have needed two years ago when I became pregnant and I wanted to create this support network for other women.

MumShape is not just about your physical strength or how fit you want to be. It is also about your mental health, about feeling happy in your own body and about giving you a clearer, calmer mind allowing you to just breathe and feel the moment. It's about meeting other mamas and to be able to talk about all these things only other mamas understand and...preferably over a latte and a  chocolate muffin ;)

Here, I will document my fitness journey with Dockside Fitness and to complete the challenge, I'm committed to getting more creative in the kitchen as well. Determined to cook more healthy and delicious food, I will be testing Deliciously Ella's new app to give me everything I need to form new, healthy habits.

I will also share my favorite podcasts and much more!

Thanks for reading!
